About

Background
I founded Thrive in 2017 after several years in the corporate green sector where I managed large commercial landscapes. I wanted to work in a more personal way and to focus my energy within the Helderberg community.
For the past decade, I’ve worked almost exclusively in this area. That local focus has given me a strong, practical understanding of local conditions, from our clay soil and harsh summer wind to the plant combinations that thrive here. It has also meant building long-term relationships with local service providers, which supports well-managed installation work.
Local knowledge has become especially relevant as many clients relocate to the area and need guidance in understanding how gardens function in the Western Cape’s Mediterranean climate, and specifically in the Helderberg.
Approach
Projects are approached as long-term partnerships, with personal oversight provided from design through to installation and ongoing management. This hands-on involvement allows for precise decision-making at every stage, ensuring each garden thrives well beyond the final planting.
The work is guided by a commitment to environmental stewardship, biodiversity, and contextual harmony. By prioritising water-wise resilience and ecological sensitivity, I create functional landscapes that support the local ecosystem and sit naturally within the Helderberg surroundings. Remaining present throughout the build allows me to guide the garden’s evolution, making considered adjustments as the landscape settles and matures.
